Sending Smiles

Well hello there!

It has been one heck of a week.  Nothing bad, I just seem to be perpetually exhausted.  It must be this early spring we're having in Vancouver.  Seriously though - the magnolia's have bloomed, the cherry blossoms are out, my building is fully lined with fully grown daffodils and everywhere you look, crocuses are adding little bursts of colour.  It's still a tad chilly though and when the rain comes, it definitely dampens your spirits.  So far we're having a dry morning, so let's hope it stays that way.

I wanted to pop in briefly today with a quick card I made for a dear friend who happens to live in a different province.  I miss her terribly and don't get to see her nearly as often as I'd like so every so often, I pop a note in the mail.  I find that hand drawn notes are so much better than texts or emails.  It's almost like a hug, wrapped in an envelope!  And snail mail just adds that something special.  There is nothing like getting a card or letter at your door.  How exciting!

Today's card was inspired by a little impulse buy I had on my last Simon Says Stamp order.  I came across this cute little teddy and knew he had to come stay with me.

For my background, I used some old patterned 12x12 paper which i've had cut down into manageable 6 x 6 squares.  I am finding this system soo inspiring and am rediscovering all kinds of patterns that had been buried away for years!

My teddy is coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers (i'm working on that..) and die cut with my Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circle dies.  That circle is actually applied to a die cut wreath background that I received as a free goodie.  I don't have the matching stamp and didn't want the die to go unused so I cut some glittered yellow card stock with it and just loved the little sunburst I was left with!   And it makes the perfect border around my little teddy's circle.

I hope this little note brings a smile to your face as well as my friend's.  Wishing you an amazing day and a stress-free end to your work week.
