All Things Bright and Beautiful

Hey there!

As I sit here in the wee early morning hours with my (still too hot) americano, I find myself dreaming of the spring and it's bright mornings.  Here, in Vancouver, we are in the middle of a storm system that's left us more than a tad damp and gloomy.  So when I saw that this week's Simon Says Wednesday Challenge was "All Things Bright and Beautiful", I knew i'd enjoy the opportunity to make something cheery.

When I started this card, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but ultimately it became one of my all time faves.  I just love how much brighter my pink sentiment became when placed on the white oval and popped up over the grey.  Funny how some elements change when paired with others right?

Here's a close up of the shaker element for you.  I actually started with my background colour when I decided to stamp some hearts with my new Mama Elephant (ME) Brown Sugar pigment ink on this grey card stock.  I just loved how it came out so I added some more hearts in the ME Apricot pigment ink and concentrated them where my shaker window would be.  I then added a pile of clear glitter and some bright pink sequins and sprinkles from Papertrey Ink before adhering my shaker face.  The sentiment stamps and die cut are all from the Papertrey Ink Shakers and Sprinkles set.  I am just LOVING how much fun i'm having with this set.

I thought I'd leave you with one more pic before I head out for the day.  I've really been working on my card insides as I have yet to find a style I love but this one surprised me!  I've matted my white stitched base on the same hot pink paper as my front sentiment to bring the fun inside.  Lastly, I've added my (mixed) happy birthday sentiment by stamping it in the ME Brown Sugar pigment ink.

I had such a blast making this card!  I think Simon was onto something when he dreamt this challenge up.  I know this brightened my day!  Hope it inspires you to create your own bright creation.

And since I went shaker style with this one, I'm also entering this card into the current Virginia's View Challenge #12 - Shaker Cards!

With love,
